معرفی
Piet M. Lugt is a Full Professor in the Department of Surface Technology and Tribology at the University of Twente. His research focuses on advanced lubrication systems, particularly in grease-lubricated ball bearings and tribological interfaces. He has contributed extensively to understanding film thickness dynamics, thermal aging effects, and molecular modeling of lubricants.
Key research interests include lubricating grease behavior, film thickness analysis, and tribological material interactions. His work bridges experimental methods (e.g., capacitance measurements) and computational models (e.g., molecular dynamics simulations).
Recent studies highlight innovations in oil-separation quantification, thickener effects at low speeds, and bearing size impacts on lubrication. These contributions address critical challenges in mechanical system reliability and energy efficiency.
- Awards: 2023 STLE Wilbur Deutsch Memorial Award for practical lubrication advancements
- Collaborations: Active in international tribology networks, with recent work involving institutions in Germany and the Netherlands
Lugt has supervised 6 academic works, advancing the next generation of tribology researchers. His editorial roles include co-editing Tribology Letters, ensuring high standards in peer-reviewed tribology research.
