Pierre Taberlet

Pierre Taberlet is a Senior Scientist (DRCE1) at the CNRS, affiliated with the Laboratoire d'Ecologie Alpine at Université Joseph Fourier in Grenoble, France. He holds a PhD in Molecular Ecology (1992) and a Habilitation (1993). His research focuses on molecular ecology, conservation genetics, DNA metabarcoding, phylogeography, and non-invasive genetic sampling. He has led major European projects like IntraBioDiv, EcoChange, and NextGen. Notable roles include Director of the Laboratoire de Biologie des Populations d'Altitude (1999-2002) and Laboratoire d’Ecologie Alpine (2003-2010).

Key honors include the CNRS Bronze Medal (1996), election to the Norwegian Academy of Sciences and Letters (2005), and the Molecular Ecology Prize (2007). He became Doctor Honoris Causa at Universitatea Babes Bolyai (2012) and a Member of Academia Europaea (2014).
