Pierre Steiner

Pierre Steiner is a Professor in Humanities and Technology at the University of Technology of Compiègne, specializing in Philosophy of Mind, Cognitive Science, and Pragmatism. He leads the CRED team (COSTECH laboratory) and serves as head of the 'Technology, Societies, Humanities' department since 2022.

His research bridges pragmatist philosophy and enactivist approaches to cognition, focusing on intentionality, normativity, and anti-representationalism. Steiner's publications explore the intersections of phenomenology, cognitive science, and philosophy of technology, with particular attention to Deweyan pragmatism and Wittgensteinian perspectives.

Steiner's articles demonstrate sustained engagement with foundational questions in cognitive science, including critiques of representationalism, theories of extended cognition, and the relationship between intentionality and embodiment. His recent work examines the methodological implications of 4E cognition frameworks with a focus on normativity and scientific concepts.
