Pierre-Nicolas Lemyre

Pierre-Nicolas Lemyre is a Professor in the Department of Sport and Social Sciences at the Norwegian School of Sport Sciences. Originally from Montreal, Canada, he has established himself as a leading researcher in sport psychology with a specific focus on motivational processes in elite athletes and burnout phenomena.

Dr. Lemyre's educational background includes a Bachelor of Sciences degree in psychology from St. Lawrence University (1994) and both his master's and doctorate in sport psychology from the Norwegian School of Sport and Recreation. He successfully defended his doctoral thesis titled 'Determinants of Burnout in Elite Athletes: A Multidimensional Perspective' on February 24, 2005.

His research interests span Sport Psychology, Psychophysiology, Motivation, and Burnout, with particular emphasis on understanding how motivational processes relate to adaptive and maladaptive sport participation outcomes. Dr. Lemyre has published extensively on athlete burnout, coach-athlete relationships, self-regulation in sports, and psychological well-being in athletic contexts.
