Pierre Lachapelle, Ph.D., is a Professor at the Department of Ophthalmology and Vision Sciences, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, McGill University. He also serves as a Senior Scientist at the IR-MUHC (McGill University Health Centre) at the Glen site and is affiliated with the Child Health and Human Development Program at the Center for Translational Biology.
His research focuses on understanding normal and pathological visual function from the retina to the visual cortex. He develops human and animal models to study retinal diseases such as retinopathy of prematurity, age-related macular degeneration, and retinitis pigmentosa, aiming to elucidate their pathogenesis and explore novel therapeutic strategies.
