Pierre Guillon is a Researcher at the GDAC Team within the Institut de Mathématiques de Marseille (I2M) at Aix-Marseille University. His work focuses on symbolic dynamics, cellular automata, and computational models, with a strong emphasis on topological dynamics, ergodic theory, and group geometry. He has held postdoctoral positions at the University of Turku (Finland) and the Centro de Modelamiento Matemático (Chile), and has taught at institutions such as Paris-Est Marne la Vallée University and the University of Bejaia.
Research interests include the dynamics of cellular automata, tilings, Turing machines, and decidability questions. Notable contributions include studies on uncomputable word problems in subshift automorphism groups, generic limit sets of cellular automata, and sand automata as cellular automata models.
He co-ordinates the M2 IMD tutorial seminars and has contributed to conferences such as Automata, CiE, and MFCS. His work bridges symbolic dynamics with computational complexity, emphasizing connections between topology, algebra, and algorithmic undecidability.
