Pierre D. Levy is an Assistant Professor of Everyday Transformation at Eindhoven University of Technology. His work bridges philosophy, interaction design, and affective engineering, focusing on re-enchanting mundane practices through technology and design. He actively contributes to global Kansei research as coordinator of the Kansei Engineering and Emotion Research Steering Committee and as an editorial board member of the International Journal of Affective Engineering.
His academic journey includes a MEng in Mechanical Engineering (2001) from Université de Technologie de Compiègne, a PhD in Kansei Science (2006) from the University of Tsukuba, and a habilitation degree (2018) from Université de Technologie de Compiègne. He has collaborated internationally, including lectures at Chiba University (Japan) and a fellowship at d.school Paris-Est (France).
Levy's research emphasizes embodiment theories and Japanese philosophy applied to everyday experiences. Key projects include VASE (Value-Sensitive Design in Higher Education) and Triangulum (Teaching Resource Development). His publications explore topics like affective design, ritualistic behavior, and sensory engagement, reflecting his commitment to blending cultural and technical perspectives.
