Pierre Chaigneau is an Associate Professor & Commerce ’77 Fellow of Finance at the Smith School of Business, Queen’s University. He holds a PhD in Finance from the London School of Economics (2010), a MSc in Economics from École Normale Supérieure (2005), and a MSc in Management from HEC Paris (2004). Previously, he served as Associate Professor at HEC Montreal (2015–2019).
Research Interests: His work focuses on financial information’s role in optimal contract design, with applications in corporate governance, executive compensation, and financial stability. Key areas include ESG integration in compensation, risk management in banking, and incentive alignment mechanisms.
Teaching: He teaches advanced corporate finance and capital markets courses at the PhD and graduate levels, including MGMT 822/922 Corporate Finance: Theory and Capital Markets: Theory.
