Pierre Bonneels

Pierre Bonneels is an Associate Professor at Nagasaki Junior College and is currently pursuing his doctoral thesis at the Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB) under the Doctoral School of Philosophy, affiliated with the Centre for Philosophical Research.

His educational background includes a Licentiate degree in Buddhology from Bukkyo University (Kyoto) and research conducted at the University of Tokyo's Department of Comparative Literature and Culture through a Japanese Ministry of Education fellowship.

Bonneels specializes in Japanese Philosophy with deep expertise in Ōmori Shōzō's work (1921-1997), focusing on the relationship between material existence and consciousness as explored in his thesis "Tachi-araware". His research integrates Comparative Philosophy, Formal and Developmental Ontology, Cartesian Studies, and Philosophy of Mind to bridge Eastern and Western philosophical traditions.
