Piero Perucca is Professor of Adult Epilepsy at the Department of Medicine (Austin Health), Melbourne Medical School, The University of Melbourne, and Director of the Bladin-Berkovic Comprehensive Epilepsy Program at Austin Health. He also holds an adjunct position as Associate Professor in the Department of Neuroscience, School of Translational Medicine, Monash University, and maintains honorary clinical appointments at Alfred Health and the Royal Melbourne Hospital.
His research interests center on epileptology, with a strong focus on:
- Genetics of epilepsy and genomic biomarkers
- Electroencephalography (EEG) and electrophysiological biomarkers
- Epilepsy in pregnancy and teratogenesis
- Pharmacological and surgical treatment of epilepsy
