Dr. Piero Moraro is a Lecturer in Criminology at the School of Arts and Humanities, Edith Cowan University. Previously, he worked at Charles Sturt University's Centre for Law & Justice. He holds a PhD from Scotland (2011). His research focuses on civil disobedience, social justice, theories of punishment, and police ethics. He received the 2021 Faculty Research Award and has published extensively in journals like Punishment and Society and Law and Philosophy. Current supervision includes a PhD on whistleblowing and policy wrongdoing. His work bridges philosophical analysis and practical policy, emphasizing ethical dimensions of criminal justice systems. He contributes to debates on prison abolitionism, juvenile justice reform, and environmental activism legal frameworks.
