Piergiuseppe Parisi is a Lecturer and Joint Programme Leader for the LLM in International Human Rights Law and Practice at the York Law School, University of York. He is affiliated with the Centre for Applied Human Rights and contributes to initiatives like the Human Rights Defender Hub and Beyond Compliance Consortium.

His research spans three interconnected strands: (1) Indigenous Peoples’ Rights, focusing on grassroots justice mechanisms and cultural protection practices in Colombia; (2) Human Rights at the Local Level, analyzing municipal human rights frameworks in Italy and the UK; and (3) Human Rights Monitoring and Fact-Finding, including his doctoral work on accountability mechanisms in Israel and Palestine.
His recent publications examine non-state armed groups in Mali, torture accountability in Italy, and corruption prosecution. He employs participatory action research, ethnography, and arts-based methods, producing documentaries showcased at festivals like WOW Wales One World Film Festival.

He supervises PhD students, serves on editorial boards, and collaborates with institutions like the City of York Council and Association of Indigenous Councils of Cauca (ACIN). His work includes developing a human rights impact assessment tool for local governance.
