Prof. Pier Luigi Dragotti is a Professor of Signal Processing at Imperial College London's Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, part of the Faculty of Engineering. His research focuses on mathematical methods in signal processing, computational imaging, and model-based deep learning, with applications in inverse problems, biomedical imaging, and cultural heritage analysis. He leads the Computational Signal Processing (CSP) Group and has contributed to groundbreaking work in AI-driven imaging techniques, including projects revealing hidden art layers and improving light-field microscopy.
Key research areas include wavelet theory, sparse signal processing, and invertible neural networks. He has supervised numerous award-winning students and contributed to start-up ventures based on his research. Notable recognitions include serving as Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing (2018-2020) and being named a Fellow of the IEEE (FIEEE).
