Phyllis Clapis is a Professor of Physical Therapy at the School of Health Sciences, American International College. She holds a Doctor of Health Science (DHSc) from University of St. Augustine, a Master’s in Orthopedic Physical Therapy from Quinnipiac University, and a Bachelor’s in Physical Therapy from University of Connecticut. Certified as a Board-Certified Orthopaedic Clinical Specialist (OCS), she is actively involved with the American Physical Therapy Association’s Orthopedic and Education sections.
Her teaching responsibilities include courses such as Scientific Inquiry I (PTR 7131), Fundamentals of Patient Management I (PTR 7150), and Musculoskeletal Patient Management I/II (PTR 7210/7211), serving as a lab instructor for the latter. She also teaches Musculoskeletal Patient Management III (PTR 7660).
Research focuses on orthopedic clinical assessment methodologies and low back pain treatment strategies. Her work emphasizes evidence-based practices in musculoskeletal disorders and clinical measurement reliability.
Publications span textbooks, peer-reviewed articles, and clinical reference software systems. She has contributed to works like Management of Low Back Pain (2011) and the Sports Medicine Patient Advisor series (2010-2016).
Labs/Teams: Actively involved in musculoskeletal therapy education and clinical measurement validation projects within the School of Health Sciences.
