Philippe Fontaine

Philippe Fontaine is a Lecturer HDR at the UFR Letters and Human Sciences of the University of Rouen Normandy. He holds an Agregé de philosophie (1974) and a PhD in Philosophy from the University of Rouen (1991). He was accredited to supervise research (HDR) at the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne in 2005. His academic work focuses on modern and contemporary philosophy, phenomenology, aesthetics, and philosophy of art. He is a member of the ERIAC (Research Unit 4705), contributing to research axes such as 'Philosophy in the City' and 'Linguistic and Didactic Approaches.'

Fontaine’s research explores themes like passion, jealousy, beauty, science, and ethical concepts. He has authored numerous books and contributed to interdisciplinary projects, including the Rouen School of Phenomenology and the 'eGesta' digital edition initiative. He organizes annual 'Philosophy and Cinema' events, fostering dialogue between philosophy and artistic media.
