Philippas Nikolaos

Philippas Nikolaos is a Professor at the Department of Business Organization and Administration within the School of Economics, Business and International Studies at the University of Piraeus. His academic career spans several decades with significant contributions to financial research and education.

His research interests focus on Financial Management, Stock Market Investments, Institutional Investors, Behavioral Finance, Financial Literacy, Financial Technology (Fintech), and Cryptocurrencies. Nikolaos has published extensively in prestigious international journals including International Review of Financial Analysis, Multinational Finance Journal, Journal of International Financial Markets, Institutions and Money, European Journal of Finance, and Applied Economics among others.

His recent scholarly work demonstrates a strong focus on financial literacy, herding behavior in various markets, and the performance of mutual funds. His publications show consistent productivity from 2023 back to earlier decades, with research that bridges theoretical finance with practical applications.

Professor Nikolaos has held significant administrative positions including two-time member of the University of Piraeus Senate, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Scientific Director of the Center for Planning and Economic Research (K.P.E.) since April 2013, and founder of the Hellenic Financial Literacy Institute (HFLI) in 2016.

He teaches Quantitative Methods in Finance, Mutual Funds and Other Institutional Investors, and Behavioral Finance courses at the University of Piraeus, combining theoretical knowledge with practical applications to prepare students for careers in finance.
