Philipp Vollmuth

Philipp Vollmuth is Else Kröner Fresenius Professor (W3) for AI in Medical Imaging at the University of Bonn, holding dual appointments at the University Hospital Bonn and German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) in Heidelberg. He leads the Division of Computational Radiology & Clinical AI at University Hospital Bonn, directing multidisciplinary research focused on developing clinically translatable AI and big data analytics for radiology applications.

His research integrates artificial intelligence with medical imaging to advance diagnostic capabilities in neuroradiology and neuro-oncology, with significant contributions to deep learning approaches for MRI reconstruction, stroke diagnosis, and tumor response assessment. He plays key roles in national and international research initiatives including the DFG Priority Program 'Next Generation of Biomedical Imaging' (SPP 2177) and European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC).

Honors include the Life Sciences Bridge Award, ESNR Scientific Award, and Gerhard Domagk Prize for Cancer Research. His research team develops cutting-edge computational methods to enhance medical imaging interpretation and clinical decision-making.
