Philipp Paech is an Associate Professor of Law at the LSE Law School, part of the London School of Economics and Political Science. He holds visiting appointments at the Institute for Law and Finance of Frankfurt University, the European University Institute, Bocconi University, and Tokyo University. Additionally, he is a Distinguished Global Professor at Notre Dame University and an attorney-at-law in Frankfurt with UK mediation accreditation.
His expertise spans financial regulation, digital finance, and mediation, with a 20-year focus on legal frameworks for financial services. Since 2017, his research prioritizes digital finance regulation, including contributions to the EU Digital Finance Strategy through his role as Chair of the EU Commission’s ROFIEG expert group.
Teaching responsibilities include master’s and executive courses on international financial law and regulation, as well as a popular co-curricular Digital Finance Course for LSE students. He convenes five executive master courses addressing financial markets law and policy.
Consultancy work involves advising the OECD, UK Foreign Office, European Commission, ECB, and European Parliament on regulatory reforms. His research output includes peer-reviewed articles, book chapters, and reports funded by third parties.
