Philip Ringrose is a Professor in Energy Transition Geoscience at NTNU's Department of Electronic Systems, leading the CO2 and gas/energy storage work package in the Centre for Geophysical Forecasting. He is NTNU's lead for the EU SMILE doctoral network. He holds an honorary professorship in Sustainable Geoenergy at the University of Edinburgh's School of Geosciences.
Education: BSc in Geology from the University of Edinburgh, PhD in Seismology and Tectonics from the University of Strathclyde.
Research focuses on CO2 storage technology, reservoir geoscience, and flow dynamics in rock media. His work integrates geophysical forecasting, CCS solutions, and energy transition strategies. Recent publications include textbooks on CO2 storage and reservoir modeling.

Advising & Collaborations: Leads the SMILE doctoral network, previously advised hydrocarbon field developments at Equinor. Serves as Deputy Editor for Journal Geoenergy and was Chief Editor of Petroleum Geoscience.
Active in interdisciplinary teams including the Centre for Geophysical Forecasting and international academic networks. Member of the Royal Norwegian Society of Sciences and Letters and Norwegian Academy of Technological Sciences.
