Philip Odonkor is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Systems and Enterprises at Stevens Institute of Technology's Charles V. Schaefer, Jr. School of Engineering and Science. He directs the Design Informatics Lab and researches urban sustainability through socio-technical modeling and control systems.
Research interests focus on smart cities, energy systems optimization, and data-driven control methodologies. His NSF CAREER award (2024) supports work on energy sustainability and equity in urban environments.
Publications demonstrate consistent focus on microgrid optimization, energy justice frameworks, and urban informatics. Recent work integrates machine learning with energy system design to address social vulnerability in community microgrids.
As co-founder of Grid Discovery, he develops data-driven solutions for microgrid feasibility assessments. His research has been featured in Time Magazine and TEDx talks.
