Philip Nelson is Professor of Acoustics at the University of Southampton and former CEO of the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council. A Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, his research advances acoustic signal processing and spatial audio.
Recent work applies neural networks to acoustic classification and develops methods for personalized sound field reconstruction. His industrial collaborations include Samsung, Huawei, and Qualcomm.
Honors include a CBE for contributions to UK engineering science.
