Philip Napoli is an Associate Professor and interim Dean of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at Brooklyn College, CUNY. He specializes in 20th-century U.S. history, public history, and oral history, with a focus on Vietnam War veterans, trauma, and military service impacts. He directs the Veterans Oral History Project and co-curated the award-winning exhibition In Our Own Words: Portraits of Brooklyn's Vietnam Veterans.

Napoli’s research integrates oral history to explore veteran reintegration, moral injury, and minority military service. His 2013 book Bringing It All Back Home and subsequent 2023 essay Vicarious Trauma highlight his work. He also investigates urban history and community documentation.
His recent projects include remote oral history pedagogy innovations during the pandemic (2020–2021), using tools like TheirStory and PixStori. Articles and talks emphasize the long-term legacies of war and oral history ethics.
