معرفی
Dr. Philip Currie is a Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Alberta and a Research Associate at the Royal Tyrrell Museum of Palaeontology. His work focuses on dinosaur anatomy, growth patterns, and behavior, with particular emphasis on carnivorous dinosaurs and the origin of birds. He has conducted extensive fieldwork globally, including sites in Alberta, the Arctic, Argentina, China, and Antarctica.
Key research interests include understanding Cretaceous ecosystems, such as the Dinosaur Park Formation, and analyzing dinosaur migration patterns, nesting behaviors, and predator-prey interactions. His contributions include groundbreaking studies on Centrosaurus bonebeds, hadrosaur nesting sites, and the Canada-China Dinosaur Project.
Notable awards include the Alberta Order of Excellence and an Honorary Doctorate of Laws from the University of Calgary (2008). His publications frequently explore tyrannosaurid evolution, troodontid histology, and the paleobiogeography of Late Cretaceous dinosaurs.
Fieldwork locations span Alberta’s Dinosaur Provincial Park, the Gobi Desert, and Patagonia, reflecting his global impact on paleontology. Collaborations include the Korea-Mongolia International Dinosaur Expeditions (2006–2010), advancing knowledge of Asian dinosaur faunas.
