Philip Cohen is a Professor of Sociology at the University of Maryland, College Park. His research focuses on gender, family, and social change, with particular attention to the gender division of labor, household structure, and measurement issues in demographic research. He has also conducted studies on health disparities related to disability and family structure, as well as socioeconomic inequality in labor markets and international gender inequality. Cohen has held an NSF grant examining spatial and demographic patterns in inequality and has collaborated with institutions like the U.S. Census Bureau and NICHD. His work bridges demographic analysis with broader sociological questions about social stratification and policy implications. He is the author of 'Labor’s Love Lost: The Rise and Fall of the Working-Class Family in America' and has contributed to numerous peer-reviewed articles and policy discussions.
