Phia S Salter is the Fred W. Shaffer Associate Professor of Psychology and Neuroscience at Trinity College of Arts & Sciences, Duke University. She is a social psychologist whose work bridges cultural psychology and critical race psychology to examine racism, oppression, and collective memory.
- Education: Ph.D. (2010) and M.A. (2008) in Psychology from the University of Kansas.
Her research focuses on the bi-directional relationships between collective memory, history, and identity, with particular interest in critical histories of oppression. She explores how cultural narratives shape perceptions of systemic racism, including voter suppression and environmental justice, and investigates educational interventions to address racial inequities.
