Peyman Najafi

Peyman Najafi is a University Researcher and urban computation specialist at the Chair of Smart Architectural Technologies within the Built Environment faculty at Eindhoven University of Technology. He is also a core team member of Health in the Built Environment, contributing to innovative, multidisciplinary projects that advance urban planning through technology. His work bridges technological innovation with inclusive urban planning approaches.

His academic background includes a Master's degree in Urban Studies from Shiraz University, where he focused on "Preparing a Parametric Model for Measuring Vitality in Urban public Spaces" (2015-2017).

Najafi's research focuses on user-centered approaches to urban digital twins, integrating advanced technologies to enhance participatory urban design and decision-making processes. His work spans several key areas including Urban Digital Twins, Extended Reality (XR) in Urban Planning and Design, Geospatial Data and Urban Informatics, Digital Participatory Approaches for Inclusive Decision-Making, and Health in the Built Environment. He brings extensive expertise in XR technology development, geospatial analysis, and stakeholder management to his research, aiming to bridge technological innovation with inclusive urban planning.

Najafi's work consistently explores the intersection of digital twins, virtual reality, and urban planning with a particular emphasis on healthy aging and community engagement. Among his notable achievements is the Best Short Paper Award at the International Conference on Intelligent Environments in 2021 for his work on healthy aging communities in virtual reality environments.

Najafi actively contributes to the academic community through editorial work, serving on the editorial boards of Cyberpsychology, Behavior, and Social Networking and the Journal of Ambient Intelligence and Smart Environments. He has organized research workshops on Digital Twin & VR and participates in various committees, including chairing the European Road Safety Charter. His external position as a Researcher at HAN University of Applied Sciences since December 2022 further demonstrates his active engagement in the academic and research community.
