Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanneمعرفی
Petru Constantinescu is a Scientist at the Chair of Analytic Number Theory (TAN) and Lecturer in the Mathematics Teaching Section (SMA-ENS) within the School of Basic Sciences at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL). He joined EPFL in August 2022 as a postdoctoral researcher under Philippe Michel after earlier postdoctoral work at the Max Planck Institute for Mathematics in Bonn. He holds a PhD from the London School of Geometry and Number Theory (UCL), supervised by Yiannis Petridis, and previously studied at the University of Cambridge and Imperial College London.
His research specializes in Analytic Number Theory, Automorphic Forms, Spectral Theory, and Additive Combinatorics. Recent work explores distribution properties of modular symbols, dissipation of correlations in automorphic forms, and non-vanishing periods, with applications in geometric and spectral analysis.
At EPFL, he teaches analytic number theory courses and supervises student projects. Key supervisory roles include:
- Othmane Rih: 'L-functions and Quantum Unique Ergodicity'
- Matthew Dupraz: 'Analytic properties of Hecke L-functions'
- Kevin Rizk: Master's thesis on Bhargava's proof
- Alec Schmutz: 'Bounded gaps between primes'
He actively organizes academic events, including the 2023 ArStAFANT conference at EPFL and YoBo conference at MPIM Bonn, and founded the Informal Number Theory Seminar.
