Petros Marangos

Professor Petros Marangos serves as the Department Chair at the University of Ioannina's Department of Developmental & Reproductive Biology. His research focuses on oocyte maturation, DNA damage response mechanisms, and cell cycle regulation in reproductive biology. He leads the Developmental & Reproductive Biology Laboratory, part of the Biomedical Research Institute (BRI) at FORTH. His work spans topics like oocyte aging, genetic stability in embryos, and the interplay between DNA repair pathways and meiotic progression. Key contributions include studies on the effects of chemotherapy agents on human oocytes and maternal age-related meiotic errors.
