Petra Bernardini is an Associate Professor at the Centre for Languages and Literature within Lund University's Joint Faculties of Humanities and Theology. Her academic work focuses on Romance languages (particularly Italian) from a linguistic perspective.
- Research areas: language acquisition, bilingualism, morphosyntactic aspects, code-switching, CEFR levels, and null-subject languages
Her research explores cross-linguistic influences in bilingual speech, morphosyntactic development (A1-C2 levels), and language use in multilingual contexts. Recent work centers on the MITA project, examining children's multilingual practices during gaming. She contributes to teaching via FLRA01 courses on mother tongue instruction and serves as a Senior Lecturer in mother tongue teaching.
Key projects include Graduate school in language education (FRAM) and From A1 to C2 - linguistic correlates to CEFR levels. She collaborates with international institutions and leads research initiatives like the Swedish Journal of Romanian Studies.
