Petra Barbarić serves as Senior English Language Lecturer and Head of the Center for Foreign Languages at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Zagreb. She delivers English for Specific Purposes (ESP) instruction to Information Sciences students and English for Academic Purposes (EAP) courses across multiple faculties including Fine Arts, Special Education and Rehabilitation, and Science (Mathematics Department).
She holds an M.A. in English Language and Literature from the University of Zagreb's Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and is currently pursuing doctoral studies. Her research interests center on English for Specific Purposes and English for Academic Purposes, with emphasis on technology-integrated language acquisition for Information Sciences. She advocates for mastering discipline-specific terminology, digital literacy, and English proficiency as essential components for accessing professional literature and computational tools.
As administrative leader of the Center for Foreign Languages, she oversees university-wide language instruction and administers court interpreter certification examinations. The Center maintains active membership in the Community for Foreign Languages (Zajednica za strane jezike) affiliated with the Croatian Chamber of Economy (HGK).
