Petr Torkanovskiy

Petr Torkanovskiy is a PhD Candidate at King's Russia Institute within the School of Politics & Economics at King's College London. Supervised by Professors Gulnaz Sharafutdinova and Sam Greene, his research focuses on theoretical knowledge production in contemporary Russia under authoritarian constraints.

• BA in Journalism (2014, Lomonosov Moscow State University, with Honours)

His work examines para-academic knowledge production in non-Euro-American contexts, particularly how Russian scholars navigate political repression and censorship in disciplines like gender studies and human rights. Petr also engages in international collaborative projects, such as the Sustainable Small Media Development initiative funded by the Swedish Institute.
