Peter W. Walker is an Assistant Professor of History at the University of Wyoming, specializing in early modern Britain, the British Empire, and the Atlantic World. His research focuses on intersections of religion, empire, and revolution. He holds a PhD from Columbia University (2016), an MPhil from the University of Oxford (2010), and a BA from Oxford (2008).
Walker’s primary project, under contract with Yale University Press, explores how colonial Anglicans navigated religious modernity during the Age of Revolutions. This work has received support from NEH, the Mellon Foundation, and multiple scholarly prizes. He co-edits a digital documentary edition of Myles Cooper’s correspondence and leads a DH project applying HTR to SPG archives with Dr. Melissa Morris.
His publications include articles in New England Quarterly and edited volumes on religious history. Awards include the Whitehill Prize (2016) and Prichard Prize (2017). He teaches courses on the American Revolution, global empires, and early modern Europe.
Current initiatives include a book on eighteenth-century Irish residential schooling and collaborative digital humanities projects. His office is in History Building Room 355.
