Trippi's primary research focuses on British art from c.1850 to c.1925, particularly members of the Royal Academy who worked in the academic tradition during the late nineteenth century. He has deep expertise in the Pre-Raphaelites, Lawrence Alma-Tadema, and John William Waterhouse. His exhibition catalogs and scholarly articles demonstrate expertise in both academic art history and accessible art writing for broader audiences.
