Peter Timmins is an Assistant Professor of Archaeology in the Department of Anthropology at Western University. He holds a PhD from McGill University (1992) and specializes in Iroquoian archaeology, precontact social complexity, and Ontario archaeological studies. His work focuses on village organization, material culture analysis, and ethnohistoric correlations.
Timmins has conducted extensive fieldwork, including salvage excavations and site analyses, with notable projects at the Tillsonburg Village and Keffer site. His research integrates theoretical frameworks with empirical data to explore cultural adaptation, political structures, and settlement patterns in Indigenous communities of the Midwest and Great Lakes regions.
His publications span from Paleo-Indian studies to regional syntheses, emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches and methodological rigor. He has advised on cultural resource management projects and contributed to debates on archaeological ethics and professional practice. Timmins currently resides in the Social Science Centre at Western University.
