Peter Sarris is Professor of Late Antique, Medieval and Byzantine Studies at the University of Cambridge and Professorial Fellow of Trinity College. An All Souls College Prize Fellow and Dumbarton Oaks Visiting Scholar, he publishes extensively on medieval Eurasia's social-economic history.
His acclaimed book Justinian: Emperor, Soldier, Saint received multiple 'Book of the Year' honors. Research explores East Roman political economy, bubonic plague impacts, and transcontinental trade systems. Current projects include Byzantine economic history and comparative empire studies.
Professor Sarris supervises doctoral projects on Byzantine law, monastic literature, and frontier societies. He has held visiting positions at Rice University and Yale.
