Peter S. Hussey is Vice President and Director of RAND Health Care, a Senior Policy Researcher at RAND Corporation, and a Professor at the RAND School of Public Policy. He leads one of the world's largest health policy research organizations, managing over 200 experts on 200+ projects. His research focuses on healthcare payment and delivery innovations, with over 100 publications. Previously, he directed the RAND Health Services Delivery Systems program and worked at the OECD in Paris. He holds a Ph.D. in Health Policy and Management from Johns Hopkins University.
Education: Ph.D. in Health Policy and Management, Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
Research Interests: Health care costs, financing, quality, and economics; payment reform, system performance, and international comparisons. Key topics include Medicare policy, healthcare delivery innovations, and value-based care.
Advocacy & Grants: Oversee RAND Health Care's extensive research portfolio addressing opioid use, mental health, and access to care. Collaborates on projects like the PROMETHEUS bundled payment experiment and analyses of VA healthcare quality.
Labs/Teams: Directs RAND Health Care and collaborates with the RAND School of Public Policy and the University HealthSystem Consortium on quality improvement initiatives.
