Peter Pivovarov is a Professor in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Missouri's College of Arts and Science. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Alberta and specializes in Asymptotic Geometric Analysis, focusing on high-dimensional phenomena in convex geometry and probability theory. His research examines randomized affine isoperimetric inequalities and geometric properties of convex sets in Euclidean spaces.
Education includes:
- Ph.D. in Mathematics, University of Alberta (2010)
- M.S. in Mathematics, University of Alberta (2005)
- B.S. in Pure Mathematics (First Class Honors), University of Calgary (2003)
His research integrates techniques from functional analysis, convex geometry, and probability to study high-dimensional randomness. Recent publications explore stochastic approaches to isoperimetry, limit theorems for random sections of convex bodies, and extensions of classical inequalities like Urysohn and Brunn-Minkowski through probabilistic frameworks.
Pivovarov has received funding from the NSF, NSA, Simons Foundation, and UM Research Board. He teaches advanced courses including Calculus III, Theory of Functions of a Real Variable, and Advanced Probability.
