Peter Ogrodnik

Professor Peter Ogrodnik is a Senior Lecturer in Medical Devices Design at Keele University’s School of Pharmacy & Bioengineering, and Head of the Orthopaedics and Biomechanics Research Group. He holds roles as a Chartered Mechanical Engineer, Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine (Regional), and Honorary Consultant at Royal Stoke University Hospital. His work focuses on optimizing fracture treatments, particularly tibial fractures, and translating clinical ideas into medical devices. He has authored core textbooks like Medical Devices Design and founded two medical device companies, including Intelligent Orthopaedics Ltd. His research spans engineering design principles in healthcare, smart medical devices, and sustainable energy solutions for hospitals.

Research Interests: Medical device innovation, fracture healing mechanics, remote diagnostics, and energy harvesting for autonomous devices. Recent work includes developing the Radiographic Union Score for Tibia (RUST) and innovations in vaginal swab safety (the iCount system).
