Peter Mayr is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Colorado Boulder. His research focuses on algebra, computational complexity, and universal algebra.
Research Interests: Structure theory of algebras, computational methods for constraint satisfaction problems, and finitely generated equational classes. Recent work involves subdirect products of algebraic structures and finite axiomatizability.
Editorial/Grants: Serves on the board of Algebra Universalis and holds NSF grants for work on nilpotent algebras (2025-2028) and the BLAST conference series.
Students: Advises PhD candidates including Nick Jamesson, Sangman Lee, and Mateo Muro, with recent graduates working on computational complexity and clonoids.
