Dr. Peter Matthews is a Senior Lecturer in Inorganic & Materials Chemistry at Keele University, affiliated with the Lennard-Jones School of Chemical and Physical Sciences. Previously, he held roles as an EPSRC Doctoral Prize Fellow at the University of Manchester and a Research Fellow in Energy and Sustainability at Keele. He earned his PhD in 2016 from the University of Cambridge under Professors Dominic Wright and Ali Alavi.
His research focuses on synthesizing novel inorganic materials for energy storage and optoelectronics, including quantum dots, hydrogen storage materials, and thin films via aerosol-assisted methods. Key projects include III-V quantum dots for optoelectronics, H2 storage via designer materials, and scalable thin film growth using aerosol chemistry.
- Teaches modules in inorganic chemistry, materials chemistry, and research projects at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Publications span topics like quantum dot surface properties, phosphorus-doped graphite, and polyoxotitanate cage structures. His work bridges synthetic chemistry and materials applications, with a focus on advancing sustainable energy technologies.
