Peter Larsen

Peter Larsen is an Assistant Professor of Law at Mitchell Hamline School of Law (2024–Present), with a focus on civil rights, constitutional law, and equity. He holds a J.D. from Drake University Law School (2019), a Ph.D. expected from the University of Iowa (2026), and prior degrees from the University of Chicago (M.A., 2017) and Augsburg University (B.A., 2013). His work integrates legal scholarship, advocacy, and public engagement to challenge systemic inequality.

• Key Roles: Adjunct faculty at the University of Iowa (2020–24), owner of Larsen Law Firm (2021–Present), and former law clerk to Iowa Supreme Court Justice Brent Appel (2019–20).
• Leadership: Member of the Minnesota Supreme Court Advisory Committee, TREC Academic and Cultural Worker Advisory Committee, and American Constitution Society board. Previously chaired the Minneapolis Television Network and Minnesota Women’s Consortium policy committee.

Research interests span civil rights, criminal justice reform, and legal accessibility. Awards include the Drake Law Equity Award (2019) and a 2022 teaching honor. He advocates for marginalized voices in legal systems through teaching, policy work, and media commentary.
