Peter L. Elkin

Peter L. Elkin, MD, MACP, FACMI, FNYAM, is Professor and Chair of the Department of Biomedical Informatics and Professor of Internal Medicine at the University at Buffalo's Jacobs School of Medicine & Biomedical Sciences. He leads research in biomedical informatics, focusing on AI-driven healthcare solutions, terminology standards (e.g., SNOMED CT), NLP applications for clinical data, and analytics for substance use disorders. Affiliated with UBMD for patient care, he bridges clinical practice with translational research.
