Peter John Winch is a Professor in the Department of International Health at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. He has been teaching since 1988 and serves as Co-Chair of the Johns Hopkins Sustainability Leadership Council. His work focuses on community engagement, behavior change interventions, and qualitative research.

Awards include the Ernest Lyman Stebbins Medal (2023), Dory Storms Child Survival Award (2011), and multiple Golden Apple Awards for Teaching Excellence. He has also received the AMTRA award for mentoring four times.
As an advisor, he has mentored over 100 graduate students, including 30 PhD and DrPH candidates. His projects include evaluations of community health interventions in India, Mali, Bangladesh, and Tanzania, focusing on neonatal infections, antenatal care, and WASH practices.
