Peter Jipsen is a Professor in the Department of Mathematics at Schmid College of Science and Technology, Chapman University. His research spans Universal Algebra, Lattice Theory, Residuated Lattices, Algebraic Logic, and Substructural Logics. He earned a B.Sc. and M.Sc. from the University of Cape Town and a Ph.D. from Vanderbilt University.
- Education: University of Cape Town (B.Sc., M.Sc.), Vanderbilt University (Ph.D.)
His scholarly work focuses on the algebraic foundations of logic systems, particularly residuated lattices, relation algebras, and substructural logics. Recent publications analyze balanced residuated monoids, distributive quasi relation algebras, and involutive FL-algebras, with applications in computer science and mathematical logic.
He has collaborated extensively on topics like algorithmic correspondence, generalized BI-algebras, and topological duality, contributing to the understanding of idempotent semirings and concurrent Kleene algebras.
