Peter Herbst is a Teaching Professor in the Department of Social Work and Child Advocacy at Montclair State University's College of Humanities and Social Sciences. He holds an MSW from the Wurzweiler School of Social Work and a post-graduate certificate in Marriage and Family Studies from the New Jersey Center for Family Studies. Currently serving as a full-time instructional specialist, he teaches courses such as Child Abuse and Neglect, Trauma Treatments, and Clinical Social Work Practice. Previously, he was an adjunct professor at Saint Peter’s University and held administrative roles in community organizations, including a 23-year tenure as Executive Director of the Hudson County Child Abuse Prevention Center. His expertise spans child welfare, family violence, and trauma intervention, complemented by a private practice in marriage and family therapy.
