معرفی
Peter Henry serves as Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology within the School of Biomedical Sciences at The University of Western Australia. His research focuses on receptor-effector systems within the lungs of healthy and diseased individuals, with significant contributions to understanding airway physiology and pharmacology. He leads the Respiratory Pharmacology Research group and coordinates the Major in Pharmacology within the Bachelor of Biomedical Sciences program.
Dr. Henry's educational background includes a BSc and PhD from Western Australia. His research has been published in prestigious journals including Nature and high-impact specialty journals such as American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine. He has published nearly 100 papers, with approximately 75% appearing in journals with an impact factor of 3 or higher, and serves as first or senior author on 65% of his publications.
His research interests center on receptor function and distribution in allergic and viral airway disease, with specific expertise in endothelin, airway receptors, cholinergic receptor stimulating agents, asthma, smooth muscle, and proteinase activated receptor 2. His work bridges fundamental pharmacological mechanisms with clinical applications in respiratory diseases.
Analysis of his recent publications reveals a strong focus on airway physiology, with particular attention to mucin secretion pathways, airway remodeling, and the development of novel experimental systems for studying airway function. His research spans both basic science investigations and translational applications with potential clinical relevance for asthma and other obstructive lung diseases.
Scientific Awards and Recognition:
