Peter Hayton is a visually impaired PhD student and Lecturer at Newcastle University's School of Computing. His research focuses on improving urban mobilities for visually impaired people (VIP) through co-creation of intelligent systems embedded in urban infrastructure, while critiquing the accessibility of human-centered design (HCD) methods from a VIP researcher perspective. His work aligns with disability justice to create equitable futures, exploring how mainstream technologies and urban design can better meet VIP needs, including ethical considerations of autonomous vehicles and infrastructure access.
