Peter Hallberg is an Associate Professor and Head of Division at Linköping University's Department of Management and Engineering (IEI), part of the Faculty of Science and Engineering. His research focuses on engineering education, curriculum design, and product development, with particular emphasis on integrating practical learning experiences and industry-relevant methodologies. He leads the Product Realisation (PROD) division, which emphasizes innovation, sustainable design, and interdisciplinary education.
His work includes pioneering the use of CDIO (Conceive-Design-Implement-Operate) frameworks to modernize engineering curricula, as well as exploring the impact of curriculum 'nativeness' on student performance. Notable contributions include studies on low-cost demonstrators in education, modular vehicle design for sustainability, and peer assessment in laboratory courses. He has also collaborated internationally, notably with universities in Brazil to reform engineering programs inspired by Linköping's approaches.
Professor Hallberg has received institutional recognition for teaching excellence in 2016 and is actively involved in advancing educational technology and industry alignment in engineering disciplines. His research bridges pedagogical innovation with practical industry needs, reflecting a commitment to both academic rigor and real-world application.
