Peter Grace

Professor Peter Grace is a leading academic in global change research at Queensland University of Technology (QUT), affiliated with the Faculty of Science and School of Biology & Environmental Science. He holds adjunct positions at Michigan State University and Columbia University’s Earth Institute. His PhD from the University of Queensland underpins his expertise in sustainable agriculture, nitrogen use efficiency, and greenhouse gas mitigation. Key research focuses include soil carbon sequestration, agroecosystem simulation, and reducing emissions from agricultural systems through innovations like bioreactors and precision farming technologies. Grace has led major initiatives such as the $50M Australian Nitrous Oxide Research Program (2007–2016), coordinating automated sampling networks. Current projects address carbon balances in grasslands (TERN OzFlux), nitrate removal technologies (DAF), and nitrogen management in cotton/grain systems (GRDC & CRDC).
