Peter F. Stadler is a Professor of Bioinformatics at the University of Leipzig, Germany, since 2002. He holds concurrent roles as a Senior Scientific Advisor at the RNomics Group of the Fraunhofer Institute for Cell Therapy and Immunology, and as an External Scientific Member of the Max Planck Society affiliated with the Max Planck Institute for Mathematics in the Sciences. A polymath with academic backgrounds in Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, and Astronomy, Stadler completed his PhD in Theoretical Chemistry at the University of Vienna in 1990 and habilitated there in 1994. He has maintained affiliations with prestigious institutions such as the Max Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry and the Santa Fe Institute, where he has been an External Faculty member since 1994.

His research spans interdisciplinary domains including RNA biology, evolutionary computation, and mathematical modeling of biochemical systems. He has been actively involved in collaborative research networks and has served in leadership roles in scientific societies like the Chemisch-Physikalische Gesellschaft in Wien.
